Ralph Ellis began his journalism career as a student at the University of North Carolina writing for The Daily Tar Heel. From there, his journalistic pursuits took him to numerous newspaper outlets in the Carolinas, Virginia and Florida, before he eventually landed in Georgia working for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. After leaving print newspapers in 2011, he continued as a freelance writer in the digital realm publishing articles and stories for Patch, CNN, WebMD, The New York Times and Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.
